The Park District owns and manages three commuter parking fields for Park District residents (Canterbury Road, North Station Plaza and Shoreward Drive). As a courtesy to residents, the Park District issues one parking window decal per resident household at no cost. If needed, a second permit may be purchased for $12. In order to obtain a parking window decal, a Park District resident must have a valid park card and present his/her vehicle’s DMV registration, showing his/her name and Park District address.
IF YOU ARE NOT A RESIDENT or do not have a window decal on your car and you are parking in our commuter parking lots, you are in violation of our parking rules and risk receiving a costly parking ticket. We have increased our code enforcement staff to ensure that only park district residents have complete access to parking in our commuter lots.
In order to park in the lots Monday through Friday, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. parking fees apply. You are required to purchase and clearly display on your rearview mirror a daily ($4), monthly ($68) or annual ($748) ticket.
As an added benefit to Park District residents, however, residents may park in any of the Park District commuter parking lots free on Saturday and Sunday with only the parking window decal. As in the past, parking is never permitted between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.! Parking is always on a first-come, first-served basis.
The parking window decals and daily, monthly and annual parking tickets can be obtained or purchased at Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Avenue. Dunkin' Donuts, 35 North Station Plaza, across from the train station, also sell our parking tickets. Call 482-0355 for further information.
FUTURE OF COMMUTER PARKING
The Park District operates three (3) commuter parking lots near the Long Island Railroad Station. The current demand often exceeds the capacity of these lots. Expansion of the Long Island Railroad to Grand Central Station as well as additional housing under construction within the Park District will increase this demand. The District is examining potential ways to increase the number of parking spaces.
The Commissioners, with the help of all Great Neck residents and Town and Village officials hope to find various alternatives which commuters might use to get to and from the train.
