Major Parks
We encourage you to visit all of our major parks, where events, performances and programs are held, from time to time. Our major parks include a variety of recreational facilities for your enjoyment, such as tennis and basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields, wading pool or water pads, mooring, sailing and beach boat facilities, children's playgrounds, picnic areas and more.
Or just take a break from your hectic day-to-day schedule to experience the beauty of nature in our parks.

Park personnel are on the premises for maintenance and security.
Our major parks include:
Steppingstone Park, 38 Steppingstone Lane, 487-9228, has 10 1/2 acres overlooking Long Island Sound. It is home to our marina, which offers moorings, launch service, beach boat permits (residents only), ramp permits (non-resident fee applies),a fishing dock, boat lockers & trailer storage. It is home to our Steppingstone Sailing School. We offer a summer camp program here for children ages 3+, the Playscape (indoor play area for ages 2-7), children's birthday party room, outdoor playground, wading pool, water pad, snack shop, picnic tables and restrooms. During July and August, we present outdoor concerts/performances every weekend on our Steppingstone Waterside Theater stage.
Memorial Field on Fairview Avenue, 773-3420, also called the Athletic Field, sits on 7 1/2 acres and has 16 Har-Tru tennis courts, softball & baseball diamonds, soccer fields, handball & basketball courts and a playground. Open until dusk during summer with maintenance and security personnel on the premises. Restrooms are available. The tennis courts open, weather-permitting, on or about May 1. Eight courts close on or about Nov. 20 and the remaining eight close on or about Dec. 15, or the first freeze. Weather permitting, the courts are open from 8 a.m. to dark.
Allenwood Park on Allenwood Road, 487-4360, has 13 acres which include softball diamonds, five all-weather tennis courts, a basketball court, a water pad and two playgrounds swings and sandbox. Also on the premises is a pond. Staff is on hand to maintain the park . Restrooms are available. Tennis courts are open year round from 9 a.m. to dusk.
Kings Point Park, entrances on Steamboat Road or Redbrook Road, 482-9257, has 175 acres in which more than five miles of trails are for hiking & cross-country skiing. It has 26 picnic areas with tables and outdoor grills. It also includes four softball diamonds, four Har-Tru tennis courts, two all-weather basketball courts, a soccer field, horseshoe pitching and Sled Hill for winter enjoyment. There are restrooms available. The tennis courts are open on or about May 15 and close on or about Oct. 15. Weather permitting, in full season, the courts are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Village Green & Rose Garden on Middle Neck Road, 482-0181, has 6 1/2 acres (includes acreage of Great Neck House) and is home to our Veterans' Memorial, a formal rose garden, gazebo, a bandstand for concerts, a senior exercise course and a children's all-abilities PlayGarden. Park personnel are on premises for maintenance and security.
