ACTIVITIES
Sports (minis/tots)
Sports is a time for our Minis and Tots campers to engage in outdoor athletic activities. Located in the fields of Steppingstone Park, our trained Sports Director organizes activities that engage the campers while working on their coordination, gross motor skills, and confidence. Relay races and obstacle courses are always a big hit among the Minis and Tots!Tennis
Tennis takes place at Parkwood Tennis Center located next to the Parkwood Pool Complex and Recreational Center. Groups are given time on the courts with a Parkwood Tennis instructor and participate in various skill enhancing games and activities.
Cheer
Cheer takes place at Steppingstone park in a designated area of the field. Campers are instructed by our cheerleading specialist who teaches them cheers with catchy lyrics and dance moves throughout the summer. They participate in different cheer games that encourage them to work together to show our camp spirit!
Dance
Dance takes place at Steppingstone park in a designated area of the field. Campers are instructed by our dance specialist who teaches them warm-up dance activities as well as choreographed dances that are performed at our end of summer talent show. Campers play various dance games such as freeze dance and huggy bear.
Field Activity (FA)
Field Activity takes place at Steppingstone park in a designated area of the far fields. They may play soccer, kickball, running bases or can even make their own obstacle course.
Gymnastics
Gymnastics takes place inside one of our air conditioned rooms at Steppingstone Park. There is a gymnastics specialist that engages the campers in stretching activities, tumbling, cartwheeling and other gymnastics skills. The campers love using the cheese wedge to learn how to tumble and the cartwheel mat is also a big hit!
Karate
Karate takes place at Steppingstone Park in a designated area of the field. A professional instructor comes to teach the campers various self-defense techniques. Our Minis and Tots love working with Sensei to learn important life skills in a exciting, fun, and enriching matter!
Yoga
Taking place under the trees at Steppingstone Park, our yoga instructor creates a calm environment for campers to learn a variety of yoga poses. Campers are also taught the benefits of yoga, which include muscle toning, flexibility and the spiritual side of yoga. You may even see Yoga activities on display at the end of summer talent show.
Zumba
Zumba is a Camp Parkwood favorite. Taught by our amazing instructor from ConfiDanze Studio, Zumba combines aerobic workouts with amazing music and campers absolutely love it.
Located at Steppingstone Park, Zumba activities occur all summer long as campers learn a variety of different dances, songs and routines that often are on display at the end of summer talent show.
Fantastic Facilities
Camp Parkwood utilizes the full capabilities of the Parkwood Pool Complex. A combination of intermediate and deep water pools provide excellent opportunities for your child’s swim progress. Our lazy river, spray park, and water slide help to make free swim an exciting afternoon event, and our recent partnering with Ur Swim will ensure a safe, friendly, and supportive environment for each camper to thrive in the water.

What to Expect
On the first day of camp, campers will go through a thorough assessment by instructors to determine their swimming level as per the American Red Cross Swimming level standards. Campers will be placed in groups based on swim level and ability, rather than age.
Level up certificates will be distributed to each camper as he/she advances. This will include information on requirements necessary for advancement to the next level. As a parent, you can expect regular progress reports from our expert staff detailing your child’s progression through the six levels as follows:

When our Minis and Tots aren't swimming in the wading pool at Steppingstone park, they are running through the sprinklers in the aqua park! Our campers love pressing the buttons for the dolphin and elephant sprinklers and waiting for the water to spray out!Nemo's Island
Located at the Parkwood Aquatic Center, campers can enjoy an interactive water park filled with wading pools, sprinklers, tunnels, climbers and more! A perfect way to cool down on those beautiful summer days!Arts & Crafts
Arts and Crafts takes place at Steppingstone Park, conveniently located on the ground floor of the main building facing the spray park and pool area. Campers participate at least once a week, and create crafts and art using all types of materials. We encourage creativity and exploration! Campers bring projects home from time-to-time, including everyone's favorite tie dye shirt!
Cooking & Science
Cooking and science takes place at Steppingstone Park in an air conditioned room located in one of our trailers near our lunch tent. Our cooking and science specialist has tons of fun and creative projects planned for the campers each week such as making candy necklaces, "dirt" cups, and objects.
Craft
(minis/tots)Our Minis and Tots have access to air conditioned classrooms. A great way to cool down is by working together on a camp craft. Crafts are hands-on and fun for the campers! Our classroom crafts are led by group leaders and cover a wide range of subjects for young artists. Our selection of art supplies provide excellent inspiration for craft ideas for kids.
Drama
Drama takes place at Steppingstone park in a designated area of the field. Campers are instructed by our drama specialist who teaches them how to perform skits and engages them in other fun drama games. Charades is a big hit in drama and assists our campers in developing presentation skills and building their self-confidence!
Game Room
Game Room takes place at Steppingstone Park in an air conditioned room located in one of our trailers by the lunch tent. There are various Playstation, Xbox, and Wii games for the campers to play, as well as table games like ping pong and knock hockey. Campers love the opportunity to play a variety of video games with their friends, while escaping the heat!
LEGO Room
Located at Steppingstone Park inside of the brand new Playscape facility, the LEGO room is filled with LEGO tables, LEGO pieces and even LEGO walls! You can build anything you can imagine.
Music
Taking place at Steppingstone Park, our music specialist organizes a variety of different activities which incorporate all different aspects of music. Throughout the summer, groups learn different songs, games and activities which are often seen at the end of the summer talent show.
Nature
Steppingstone Park is in a prime nature location. With many varieties of trees, plants, wildlife and direct access to the Long Island Sound, there are so many things to see, smell and touch. Campers will go on nature walks to explore the natural world right at our fingertips!
Playground
Our new Steppingstone Park Playground is perfect for campers of all ages. Built like a Pirate ship at sea, campers can climb, swing, and slide their way through the Steppingstone playground.
Playscape
Located at Steppingstone Park indoor facility, children will love the Playscape. Campers can spend time with the many attractions this indoor playground has to offer. A room filled with a hands-on play diner and supermarket, where you will find a shopping cart, play food and many other imaginative ways to explore. There is a space with magnetic puzzle tables and a reading corner for children to enjoy.
