Great Neck House Winter Youth Classes

Sun Jun. 7Tai Chi Tai chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels.
General Information: Classes begin the week of January 6 (unless otherwise noted) and run through the week of March 23. Course registration is on a first-come, first-served basis during regular registration department hours. Parents are required to stay for all children’s classes except classes indicated. If you don’t see a class that meets your requirements speak to our facility director about trying to coordinate another class. Tuesday classes run 12 weeks; Monday, Wednesday through Sunday classes run 11 weeks.
Beginner Ballet/Modern Dance
Ballet and Modern dance are considered two of the most fundamental forms of dance since both teach balance and coordination skills that can be used throughout life. This class will teach students the basic skills and techniques of both dance forms. Activities include bare, floor, center stage and traveling floor work in a fun, encouraging environment. Leotard and tights preferred, ballet shoes required.

Kids in the Kitchen
Cooking, math, science, reading and history--all mixed up into one pot of fun! Your child will learn to make cookies, bread, brownies, fruit kabobs, muffins, pizza, salads and more. Children learn safety, nutrition, cleanliness and measuring/use of equipment. Join the fun. (All ingredients are kosher).

I'm a Big Kid Now
Designed for children 18 months to 3 years of age who have never been to school. Introduction to learning skills such as basic math, reading and more.

Anything can be hand built by you. We will show you how. Begin by pulling the clay, building your piece, to cleaning and glazing it. The sparkling results will amaze you! Children ages 3.5 and up

Fun Art - Exploring Drawing
Scribble drawings, sponge paintings, handmade paper, graphite pencils, charcoal, and collages … all play a part in our Fun Art classes! Imagination, mixed-media, and an open mind, Will allow you to draw and explore! Children ages 5 and up

Gymnastics / Tumble
Learn Gymnastics skills in a friendly environment that encourages movement and motivation. Students will learn to stretch, tumble, balance beam, hand

This program provides children and young adults with disabilities the opportunity to explore the love of art with few limitations. Various art media explored in the field of art/crafts in a passionate, caring environment. This course is taught by special education instructors with extra special TLC.
