Great Neck Skate School follows the Learn To Skate USA regulations endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating. The Learn to Skate program is designed to teach skaters the fundamentals of skating in a supportive and enjoyable environment. The Skate School teaching staff consists of experienced and qualified professionals. Our program includes classes for skaters of all ages and abilities. We want all participants to experience the joy of skating. Skaters will progress at their own rate and advance after their skill mastery is demonstrated. All group classes will focus on the proper skill development that will instill a lifelong love of skating.
POLICIES
• There is a $20 annual registration fee.
• There are NO makeups or refunds.
• Skate rental fee is NOT included in the price of the program.
• Group classes run in 10 & 11 week periods.
• There are a maximum of 10 students per class.
• A helmet (bicycle or ski) must be worn to every group class (levels Basic 4 & under) or child will not be able to participate.
• Gloves and warm layers are recommended for all skaters.

LEVEL EVALUATION
Our professional staff will evaluate skaters based on age and ability during the first two weeks of class to ensure skaters are in the correct class. Skaters will be evaluated during week six to determine whether or not the skater has mastered the elements required.

Snow Plow Sam is a program designed for children age 3-5. This Tot-level program is a wonderful way of making your young child comfortable on skates. The 30 minute class is a fun introduction to the ice skating world!

The Beginner program consists of classes ranging from Non-skater to Basic 4. These classes increase confidence and promote independent skating. In these levels, children begin learning the basic fundamentals of ice skating.

Basic levels 5 and 6 are represented in the Intermediate program. In these levels, skaters begin learning advanced elements in preparation for the Freestyle program.

Pre-freeskate through Freeskate 4 classes are 30-minutes long and are geared towards the more advanced/competitive skater. In these classes, skaters work on advanced skills including jumps, spins and edgework.

Adult skaters of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to join our 45-minute adult program.

This 30 minute class allows parent and child to enjoy learning together; it is a fantastic way to bond and introduce your young child to ice skating!

Classes meet every Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Lesson includes USFS certified coaches, adaptive equipment and skate rental. Skater must provide their own helmet, long socks and gloves.
*A one-time additional Annual Learn-to-Skate Registration Fee of $20 is mandatory.
